Michael Jordan Not Sure If ‘Super Teams’ Are Good For The Rest Of The NBA Franchises
Michael Jordan who is a hall of famer in the NBA and part owner of the Charlotte Hornets is not sure if ‘Super Teams’ are good for the rest of the NBA franchises. Jordan pointed out that the two ‘super teams’ in the NBA right now are without doubt the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two teams have dominated the remaining 28 NBA franchises and have clashed in the NBA finals for the last three years.
Super Teams: Golden State Warriors And Cleveland Cavaliers
The Golden State Warriors have won two out of those three NBA finals with the Cavaliers taking one. NBA analysts believe that it is very likely that the Warriors and Cavaliers will once again meet each other in the 2018 NBA finals. The two NBA franchises have been so dominant that they have been labelled as ‘super teams’.
The reason for their dominance is because they have the best NBA players as part of their team. The Warriors are represented by Klay Thompson, Draymond Greene,Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry while the Cavaliers had LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The Cavaliers let go off Irving this year but replaced him with Jae Crowder and Isaiah Thomas.
Jordan believes that it creates an uneven balance for the rest of the NBA franchises when one or two teams get stacked with the best players in the league. Jordan states that when this happens, the competition gets limited to these ‘super teams’ and the remaining NBA franchises come across as ‘garbage’ as fans are only interested in seeing the super teams compete and the best players in action.
Jordan Preferred To Play Against The Best
The NBA hall of famer said things have changed considerably when compared to when he was playing for the Chicago Bulls. Jordan said it would not have crossed his mind to ask Magic Johnson and Larry Bird to join the Bulls and form a super team. He was very happy to play against them as opponents as it brought out the best in him as he always wanted to beat them.
Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner does not share Michael Jordan’s views about super teams and said that the concept of the NBA being all about super teams was wrong. Commissioner Silver did acknowledge that there are some teams that are stacked with good players but said that with time everything would work out and event out.
The 2018 NBA season could turn out to be more competitive as Oklahoma City Thunder has become the latest NBA franchise to put together a super team. The Thunder now have Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and current MVP Russell Westbrook as part of their team.
2018 NBA: Chance For New Players To Shine
The 2018 NBA season will provide the rest of the franchises and players the opportunity to make a name for themselves by performing and becoming the next NBA All Star.
