Combat Sports Fans Will Be Busy On September 16 With GGG vs. Canelo & UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh

Combat Sports fans from around the world will excited for September 16 as its going to be an action packed night as the boxing world looks forward to a super fight between Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin vs. Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez which takes place in Las Vegas and the UFC’s Fight Night in Pittsburgh.

The recent ‘money fight’ between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and UFC superstar Conor McGregor helped generate a lot of interest between the two sports and fans from both combat sports will be turning on their televisions for an action packed night.

GGG vs. Canelo

This could turn out to be one of the greatest boxing fights in the sport and boxing fans have labeled this as the ‘real fight’. GGG has only been to a decision once in his career and that was in his last fight. The future hall of famer has promised to KO Canelo who has only lost once in his career and that was to Mayweather.

There is a good undercard taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas but combat sports fans will only be interested in the GGG vs. Canelo fight. The fight will be telecasted via HBO Boxing and the pay-per-view will cost $79.99. The undercard start at 8 pm EST and depending on when it finishes, the GGG vs. Canelo fight will start – most likely after 10 pm EST.

UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh

The UFC did not have a lot of action happening in August as the focus was on the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight. However there are quite a few interesting cards on show in September and one of them is UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh which takes place at the PPG Paints Arena.

The Main Event will be former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold taking on David Branch who is ranked number 9. Rockhold is returning to the Octagon after over 15 months as a knee injury has kept him out. His last appearance in the Octagon was when he lost the title to Michael Bisping – the current champion. Rockhold has never been to a decision in his UFC career and he will want a finish to launch his campaign to regain the belt.

UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh will have a total of 10 fights on the card and the FS1 prelims start at 8 pm EST with the Main Card starting at 10 pm EST. Some of the other interesting fights on the Main Card are Hector Lombard vs. Anthony Smith and 13th ranked Kamaran Usman vs. Sergio Moraes.
