Manchester United Shouldn’t Sign Alvaro Morata, but Harry Kane Instead
It’s been reported that an offer of £52.4 million has been made by Jose Mourinho to sign striker Alvaro Morata for the Manchester United team before the summer. However, professionals have stated that the striker would be better suited for the Chelsea team.
Paul Merson, football professional at Sky Sports, has advised the Man United boss to reconsider and avoid signing yet another expensive player to the team after creating a deal worth £89 million for Paul Pogba last summer. Instead, it’s recommended for Mourinho to consider Harry Kane, the current striker for Tottenham.
Merson reported to Sky Sports that he thought Man United would have considered Harry Kane first and spent as much as £100 million to add the player. He also believes that Man Utd can’t afford to fork out huge cash for a player that might require a season to get going, whereas Happy would have given the team an edge from the very first match.
The football professional also added that it would be a major gamble for the club as a Pogba situation could rise again, which saw the team fighting for fourth place. The club is one of the biggest in the world, which is why they should aim for anything less than the league cup.
The 23-year-old English footballer Harry Kane has a bright future ahead of him, being called the Renaldo replacement. The striker started his career young with the Arsenal youth club, but only started making real waves as a U-18 player for Tottenham. Late 2016, Kane signed another contract with Tottenham, keeping him in the club until 2022. In 2017, he already made headlines within the first game by striking the first league goal on this 100th Premier League appearance.
As for Alvaro Morata, Paul Merson suggested the player should consider joining the Chelsea club instead as he is a more rounded striker and has the ability to shine in their team. Furthermore, Morata has also played with many professionals in Chelsea during his career in Madrid and Juventus.
Paul has also added that he things Romelo Lukaku would also be a great consideration for the Man United team, even with the links to Chelsea the striker has expressed before. He also added that Morata is a better fit for Chelsea than Lukaku, but is considered that Lukaku wouldn’t be able to keep up with the major teams such as Chelsea just yet, which would cause multiple breakdowns along the way.
Paul Merson finished by added that he thinks Morata fits the Chelsea team better when Lukaku is better suited for the Man United team. However, Man Utd are straightforward irrespective of way works better.
According to SkyBet; Morata has moved into 1/4 to join Man Utd while Harry Kane is currently 12/1. The bookies still fancy Morata to join Man Utd.
