UFC 217 could go down as the biggest pay-per-view card that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has put up this year as the UFC has stacked this card with three championship fights. UFC 217 takes place at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 4.
Toronto Press Conference
The Main Event will be for the UFC Middleweight belt as current champion Michael Bisping will defend his belt against former UFC Welterweight champion George St. Pierre. GSP is the biggest MMA star in Canada and is coming out of retirement after a four year gap. The UFC will head to Toronto on November 4 and host a press conference between Bisping and GSP at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The event will start at 10 am ET and will be open to the public. It will also be live streamed on YouTube.
MMA fans who watch the presser can expect some fireworks as the last time these two faced off was on October 6 and things got a little heated both verbally and physically.
Bisping Will Use Verbal Skills To Upset GSP
Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson, the last two opponents that faced Michael Bisping will tell you that he has a knack for being annoying and getting under one’s skin. The Brit is great with the mike and tried his best to insult and get under GSP during the last presser. He insulted GSP for wearing the same suit as last time and also mocked his accent. He would later go on to pull GSP’s suit when UFC President Dana White asked them to face off.
GSP who is very experienced stayed calm while Bisping was insulting him and kept his smile going. However he did get upset when Bisping pulled his suit and ended up pushing the champion which forced Dana White to get between the two and prevent any more altercations. The Toronto presser is bound to have more fireworks as Bisping has already posted on Instagram and asked GSP if he will be wearing the same suit. Bisping is currently the favourite with the bookies.
UFC 217: Stacked Card
UFC Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will defend his title against former training partner TJ Dillashaw. There is no love lost between the two and one can expect fireworks from round one. Garbrandt has great knock-out power but TJ has great defense and an unorthodox style which makes him hard to hit. Garbrandt is the favourite with the bookies.
UFC Strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk has never been defeated as champion and she will look to continue her winning stream and tie the record with Ronda Rousey for the most successful title defences by a woman in the UFC when she takes on challenger Rose Namajunas. Jedrzejczyk is the favourite with the bookies.
MMA fans will also be interested to see Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson make his return to the Octagon after losing his title fight to Tyron Woodley. Wonderboy will have his hands full as he takes on the dangerous Jorge Masvidal in a 3 round bout. UFC217 is also packed with a number of exciting fights.
